Mean Girl

I’ve found Cakes to be a little mean sometimes of late.

She bashes the cats with dirty Simon.

She kicks my breasts when I’m trying to change her diaper and then laughs at me.

At the park the other day, she took an old man’s cane and ran away with it (of course, I was busy chatting and didn’t notice until I heard the other parents calling her and she was halfway across the park). I shit you not.

Last night during her dinner, I was on my knees cleaning up the scrambled eggs she had tossed to the floor when she decided my head was a good target for her peas.

Is this how bullies start out?

hee, my peas bounce off mama’s head

Oh, I remember the boob kicks. Cordy used to do that to me all the time. Thank goodness it is a rarity now.

Does she laugh at each of these events? Probably just normal experimenting. She's learning she has power. :)

This picture, and the current pic of WB up chez moi really are companion photos.

They will rule together, tyrannically...

I can just picture her face as she makes off with her ill-gotten cane... Hilarious.

only if you laugh... where she can see you, anyhow. Hard to keep a straight face sometimes, isn't it? The cane is cracking me up and I'm not even there!

You won't have to worry about her in the corporate world... She's got looks, charm and an onery streak. I think she'll be able to hold her own!

And personally, I have a huge soft spot for kids with onery streaks. They make life more interesting.

I had to write....

Picturing the cane theft is terrifying to me. Why? Because I can clearly 'see' my little boy doing this given the chance.

It's all about pushing those limits. Each time they see a new one, it gives them something else to aim for.

And wow it can be hard to keep a straight face when you're trying to be stern. I would have lost it over the cane!

Oh God I hope not because Bumper is EXACTLY the same. She whips me every single day (our theme should be "smack my bitch up") and tackles others trying to bite/kiss/hug/mug them. Occasionally I wonder if she's going to be a bully but as I meet more moms I'm realizing I'm not alone and I'm sure that the ratio of bully to nerd kids in the play groups doesn't reflect typical school yard statistics (there are a lot of little ladies out there that would make wicked defense on any team).

So did the cane incident turn out okay - was the cane retrieved easily or did she give you a hard time?

I'll tell you - I have the hardest time being firm with Bumper, she too darn cute (I'm in so much trouble).

(trying to keep a straight face.)

Well, this is very tricky... mmmph... BWAHAHAHA! She took a cane! ;-)

I think it's crazay toddlerhood. The stuff she's doing is the kind of stuff that my Rosie does as well. Testing the boundaries, watching for my reaction.

So, does she have good aim with the peas?

We are so not about discipline yet around here. I could only laugh about the cane. The man didn't speak English. I tried to apologize--he didn't understand me, but he was smiling. Cakes thought it was hilarious.

Nah, she's just being a pain in the butt toddler in training. Chicky Baby does the same thing, sans cane of course. She's just flexing her baby muscle. Although, that picture is slightly terrifying in a "I'm so cute and I'm going to take over the world" kind of way.

Just wait for purposely hocking loogies in your face and purposely running over your flip-flop feet with Big Wheel plastic tires. Fun times, fun times.

The cane-robbery definitely takes the cake!

We're having battles over diaper changing these days. Sigh. Nothing quite as amusing as that cane!

Uh oh....But, not how bullies start! ;) Just what babies do....My monkey bops the cats on the head, etc., all the time....And, I'm pretty sure she's been calling me "bitch" ("batch")....So, you're not alone!!!
