Metro Recommends: Casino Royale

Are you guys annoyed with me yet for having so much time to read and watch movies at this busy time of year? BP has some holidays and I have five weeks off school. I do no Christmas baking, very little shopping and even less decorating; hence, free time.

BP and Cakes were having some quality time yesterday afternoon so I stole away for a solo matinee. Casino Royale was just the ticket for a rainy winter afternoon.

I’m not usually a fan of Bond movies but this one was a very pleasant surprise. The film goes back to the beginning of Bond’s career, to a time when he didn’t care if his martini was shaken or stirred. He’s just become 007. There are no gadgets and gizmos. There’s not even a Q. It’s back to basics, and that’s a good thing.

Daniel Craig’s Bond is brilliant. He’s suave and sexy but tougher (and rougher) than Pierce Brosnan. He’s also vulnerable. Did I mention he has a killer bod? And beautiful blue eyes?

Speaking of eye candy, the gorgeous settings made me want to hop on the next plane to Italy. This is one to catch on the big screen.

Fuck the baking - that's what the PC luxury biscuit assortment is for. Go see Casino Royale instead.

We saw it last weekend. I was totally expecting to not like Daniel Craig in the role but not only did I think he is the perfect Bond (so much more believable than many of the others with his balance of being tough yet still vulnerable) ... but I think I am a little bit in love. Those eyes. That bod. I dreamt about it for 3 days :)

I definitely want to see this at some point. Originally, not so much I admit, but the reviews of Daniel Craig's performance have been so good!

Husband and I saw 'The Holiday' last Saturday when his parents were here; rather a fun holiday movie.

I can't remember the last time I did the solo matinee thing.
(I've been too busy slaving over the cookie dough..)
next year I might have to do the P.C. thing.

enjoy the down time!

As long as Madonna isn't in it- then it'll probably be good.

I first saw my new boyfriend Daniel Craig in Layer Cake and was left a tad breathless by his sexiness.....

I was a fan of the Bond books--Bond was tougher, and generally less Roger-Moore-ish.

I'm not jealous of the solo-matinee, we rent movies a few times a month--The Woo falls asleep and I watch it alone.

I've never been much of a Bond girl but Daniel Craig seems like he might convert me.

By the way, I'm completely green over your loads of leisure time. At least this colour suits the holidays.

I am still sceptical, but am told by everyone that I will be swayed. I go on the 5th with some friends from out of town. (I think a big part of my problem is the blonde. Would it have been so hard to find some hair dye and at least make him look a bit more like the part?)
