Be Careful What You Wish For
I recently wrote about my concerns about Cakes' speech, and since then we’ve been working really hard at forcing her to use her words. We’ve already seen some improvement—when I wrote that post, she wasn’t using the word “no”. This week, a typical conversation with Cakes goes like this:
“What would you like for lunch?”
[Undecipherable tirade]
“Would you like chicken?”
“No!”
“Would you like tofu?”
“No!” [vigorous head shaking]
“Would you like carrots?”
“Please please crackers!”
“How about some pasta?” [note of desperation]
“Buddy, please please crackers!”

pumpkinpie said no a lot for a few weeks until she learned "Yeah" and then it was that all the time.
I love that she calls you "Buddy." That cracks me up.
Yeah Buddy - more crackers!
I get A-JU (apple juice) or cook-e (cookie) and when I say "please?" I get the response "NOW!".
At least Cakes has manners.
Rosie unfortunately refuses everything but milk and cookies. (I think part of this is that she doesn't seem to say "yes" if we offer her anything she can't name -- just "no, thank you," but like it's all one word: "nothankyou.")
We need to focus on teaching her the names for healthy items, like veggies. ;-)
Give the kid her crackers! :)
The Baby is FOND of NO, too. Ah, the lovely and negative toddler years!
you heard the boss, buddy.
I love that she calls you Buddy as well. My girls both went through stages where they called my husband and I by our first names which was funny. I told you...once they start there's no stopping them! Enjoy.
LOL. Glad that Cakes is making progress on vocab!
I can never refuse a good "please". I'm too impressed by the manners.
Well, at least you can call that a sentence. ;)
Now go get the poor girl some crackers, Buddy.
She sounds like a two year old in full control of her world. ;)
At least she has manners, Buddy.
at least she says please.
and hey buddy, just wait till it's NO WAY! NO WAY! cause it's coming for you, sister.
[Undecipherable tirade]
Sounds like somebody's been talking to my kid.
buddy...that is the cutest
sometimes I just feel like eating crackers
She calls you "buddy"? That's awesome. Oliver calls me "girl buddy" and I call him "boy buddy". It's totally cute. :)
Well, she's got NO down to a T!
Hey, the book came today - thanks!
I'm so impressed with the manners!
Great news on her speech, too!
sounds like you've got yourself a talker, my dear! :)
Now if only she would say thank-you!
once it starts...it just wont stop.
trust me on this one.
sigh.
