Halloween's for Adults
It’s been another busy, but fun week. For Halloween, Cakes donned her devil horns again and we visited a few of the neighbours for some cheek pinching. She revelled in the attention at first but quickly grew bored and was in bed by 6:30. We poured glasses of wine and joined the neighbours on our porches, in eager anticipation of all the darling trick-or-treaters. By 8:00, there had been more glasses of wine drunk than trick-or-treaters, so we decided to call it a night. We gave the last few kids a ton of candy and told them to tell their friends—maybe next year we’ll do better.
Last night we went to dinner at Gio Rana’s Really, Really Nice Restaurant (don’t you love the name). If you’re looking for it, there’s no sign but there is a giant nose on the front. I had grilled calamari, gnocchi, osso bucco and asparagus with gorgonzola. The osso bucco was fantastic. Our waiter was a riot, and the service excellent. If you decide to go, make a reservation—it was packed at 8:00 on a Wednesday.

Isn't Wednesday your 'special date' night? Sounds like a good time...
I'd say more glasses of wine than trick o treaters is a good thing.
I knew that nose went somewhere. I love that guy.
More wine then trick'r'treaters? Sounds fair to me. Sounds like a lovely way to celebrate Hallowe'en.
Same over here. More wine than kids. Loads of left-over candy.
We didn't get many trick-or-treaters too. Oh well. More candy for me! :)
6:30!!!!! It's official I'm raising little night owls. I bow down to you MM. That restaurant sounds divine.
We have candy coming out the ying yang.
One of our dancers said that so few children came by that they went out "reverse trick or treating." They went go door to door and gave candy to the people in houses.
Goodness, the nose is there now? I remember giong to his first unmarked restaurant in the beaches (or beah, whatev) in high school - it had the nose on it and was around the side of another restaurant. But I think when Misterpie went to the really really nice restaurant, it didn't ahve any facial features or other signage on it. And yeah, he told me all about how good it was. Bugger.
That is EXACTLY what I order every time we eat at Gio's.
I think it's the best gnocchi in town.
we've been going for years (the old location used to be on Yonge st. and the new one on Queen-well kind of new..)
and we looove it.
no highchairs though, which kinda sucks.
The candy is the best part!
