When Do They Get Table Manners?
I am very happy to report that Cakes has finally stopped tossing her food on the floor. Now, when she’s finished, she tidily pushes it to the side of her tray and screeches. However, she has a new bad habit – wiping the food off her fingers in her hair:
That’s tofu in the picture. It’s actually not that bad. Dried avocado is real fun.

I enjoyed an adult evening last night. A friend is in town for a couple of days. We went to Queen West last night – we happened upon Evanescence playing at Much Music, so we stopped for a couple of songs (of course, I never have my camera with me). We were the oldest people there, except for the man with his two giddy teenaged daughters. We showed our age with our non-recognition of the baby-faced blond veejay the girls were all gaga over, as well as our eagerness to leave once we became a little cold and hungry and our feet hurt. We went to East for dinner. Décor: very nice. Service: good. Food: so-so. Our appetizers and dessert were excellent but our pad thai was suspiciously ketchupy. What are your favourite places for pad thai? I like the Queen Mother.
Christine is helping us with our London itinerary. We are constructing the perfect Literary London itinerary – ambitious yet still allowing room for pub crawling and the subsequent hangovers. We’ve recognized we’re going to have to split up for a couple of days to accommodate our needs. BP does not particularly care to see Dickens house, while I do not want to spend a whole day in a naval museum in Portsmouth. When we finally sort it out, I’ll post it and get your thoughts.

Ah, the Queen Mother. It's been at least a decade since I've eaten there. I used to eat there before going to the Ultrasound Showbar (above X-Rays). But alas...

I am seriously addicted to Thai Princess across from MEC. They don't deliver up here in the 'burbs and we are sooooo sad. When friends from the ol hood come over we beg them to bring it. We have tried hard to fall in love with the number of thai places up here and it just isn't working.
When do they get table manners? As soon as you know, let me in on the secret because I'm still waiting for my husband to get some.
Ketchup-y pad thai? I have never heard of such effrontery! Gross.
the monkey has a horrible habit of placing her food-laden hand on her chest when she eats. Her shirts are all a mess!
SO excited for you. i eat up travel plans like some enjoy chocolate. yum. can't wait to hear more.
ps. place shower cap on head while eating. (who am i kidding, but hey, one never knows)
We're still in the market for a biohazard suit with just a face opening... anything less just defers the mess somewhere else. Oh, and as fun as avocado is, I'll take it any day over egg yolk.
i'm so lowbrow that i long for pad thai from the green room - or maybe it's the pad thai on the patio with a rickert's red that i long for. uni days. sigh.
anyway, i digress. at least cakes is wiping healthy food in her hair. we just got m to stop throwing her food on the floor. when she's had enough - now she just holds out her bowl and shrieks all done! all done! ALL DONE!

i have those bibs that are like smocks for Isabella...you know...the ones with sleeves...so her clothing stays nice and clean...but she always goes right for her hair too! it drives me nuts!
The Boy loads his hands up with tomato sauce and the surreptiously puts them under the table and on to his pants. He also sticks his fingers in his ears. I keep thinking he's bleeding out of his ears, till I realize it's just pasta sauce. Good times.
Love the pad thai at Salad King on Gould, it's the best. While in London you should check out Keats' house in Hampstead. It's a great area to walk around in. Have fun.
