Toddler Delights

Cakes' idiosyncrasies continue to amuse us.

Her new game is to spin in a circle, giggling, until she gets dizzy and falls to the floor. She gets herself so punch-drunk she can’t even stand up.

Her other favourite game is to walk around with something over her head, pretending she’s blind. She chortles maniacally when she bumps into the furniture.

She now has to have Simon and Emma in sight at all times. When she sleeps, Simon doubles as her pillow.

She likes to strip. Yesterday she ripped off her dress and socks in a restaurant.

Her favourite word these days is “cheers” and she makes you toast her non-stop.

She likes to wear her hat and scarf in the house but refused to wear it outside.

She’s a daredevil. She climbs on top of her car and stands, assuming a surfer position, while it wobbles unsteadily (I thought only briefly about pausing to take a picture before I rescued her).

She loves to wear her sunglasses in the house. She insisted on wearing them during an entire playdate recently.

What delightful activities are your little ones up to these days?

Interestingly, the spin until dizzy and falling over is popular over at our house as well (video evidence on last Wednesday's post over at my blog - bonus: she's in a chicken costume).

She also likes to wear her full winter gear (hat, mitts, snowsuit) indoors, but wants her mitts off outside (but I think this is more because with mitts she cannot grab anything).

Her other game is to find small containers (boxes, coolers, whatever) and sit inside, laughing maniacally.

Oh how I love Cakes! Falling to the floor dizzy and getting naked in public. If I didn't know better I'd be worried that she's trying to rival Lindsay Lohan's party ways.

But Cakes has style!

How fun! We had a bit of bathtub drama last night. Looking back, it was fun, at the time I wasn't so convinced! I wrote about it on my blog yesterday.

The Boy has just discovered spinning as well. We hear the patter of feet and a delighted cry of "I spinning!". Too funny! He also likes to say "Hi!" or "Good morning!" to inanimate objects. Mr Earth has a old piggy bank in the shape of a shark (don't ask...) and the Boy says "Hi Shark!" every morning and pets him.

Love, love, love the pictures! It's a toss up between the sweet first one and the cool last one for my fave.

What is it with the spinning? Chicky is currently doing that, with a bucket on her head. It's kinda funny I have to admit.

btw, that sleeping picture is precious!

Funny how the apple falls not far from the tree. Obvioulsy she is going to be a 'sensation gal', as in 'ooohhh if I spin around alought I can feel brain cells dying' or how bout this 'if I strip maybe Gord Downey will notice' (sorry but you wrote it sistah!).
She cracks me up. Can hardly wait to see her again...my girls will teach her a trick or two, or maybe it will be vice versa.

Boyo loves the spin-in-circles game. He gets me to spin him sometimes until he falls, saying, "Who-o-o-oa, whoa!"

hip doesn't even begin to cover that.

M is into boys, apparently. or just one. and pears. and books.

and goofy loud singing.

Watch out for those dare devils. Children love to self-intoxicate via spinning. My two-year-old adores running around our coffee table over and over again until she gets dizzy and painfully clips her hip on the table corner. Why oh why?

Cordy and Cakes would get along well, I think. Cordy also loves to spin around until she falls down, and cover her head with a blanket, bumping into things. Her puppy doubles as her pillow and must be with her at all times, and she loves to wear her hat in the house, but never outside.

Although the one thing she's not into is stripping.

Aren't toddlers fun?

My son loves the spinning thing too. We thought it was so funny that we started to sing "Ring around the Rosie" so now every time we start to sing it, he laughs and starts spinning. So cute!

She is SO cute.

My little one's activities these days aren't so cute. For some reason she's been resisting bedtime and the nap, and then is majorly cranky. I'm hoping it's just a milestone that she will pass in a few days when she hits two years and 4 months. :-)
